BIRMINGHAM WINE WEEKEND
It started with a seed…
An idea to create a secret garden of food and drink
And that is exactly what the team behind The Botanist did when they created what is now a much loved venue in the heart of the city.
Arriving at The Botanist on Temple Street, it will undoubtedly be the unique decor that catches your eye first. Picture antiquities and trinkets hanging from the walls and ceiling, trailing ivy and beautiful distressed wood finishes. Every inch of the interior is well considered and perfectly instagramable.
When the venue first opened in 2015 it was the botanical cocktails making the headlines – Catering for every taste, the extensive cocktail menu features categories including ‘fruit and floral’, ‘fresh and herbaceous’ and ‘citrus and spice’. If you don’t spot something you fancy, worry not, the well trained team will shake up your favourite classic cocktail instead.
The wine list is small but well formed. We love that they’ve chosen to serve an English sparkling wine; The Eighteen Acre Rosé from The Bolney Estate. This particular sparkling wine will give you aromas of brioche and summer fruits, with fresh red berries and a touch of rhubarb on the palate. Looking for a great excuse to give it a try? This year Bolney Wine Estate is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
If you want to find out which two wines The Botanist have selected for Birmingham Wine Weekend, you’ll be able to do just that when the BWW App launches later this week. If you like delightfully fruity wines, you’re in for a treat.
Of course, it’s not just the drinks menu that keeps people coming back for more, every weekend you can enjoy live music at this beautiful venue, oh and don’t forget those famous hanging kebabs…
