THIS WEEK’S HOT SPOT

This week we’re drinking at Hotel Du Vin to celebrate their 25th anniversary!  It would be rude not to raise a glass to this Birmingham institution at such a milestone! Naturally, to celebrate the French origin of the company name, the wine we’re drinking is from France.

Introducing Château Lorgeril, Grande Cuvée Aop Cabardes, 2015 (30% Syrah, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 10% Grenache Et 5% Cot)

So, what can you expect? When you kick back in the Bubble Lounge and take a look at this delightful wine, you’ll see it’s deep garnet-red in colour. On the nose you’ll find blackberry aromas and a touch of spices, perhaps even a bit of chocolate. This tipple is full bodied with lasting flavours of blackcurrant and we’re big fans. It’s priced at £38 per bottle, bring a pal and enjoy a glass or two as the evenings get darker and the nights get colder.

Stefan the Sommelier at HDV tells us that there are only a very small number of bottles available so if you want to give it a go, get yourself to the Bubble lounge pronto!
